5 minutes with Michelle Bloice

This month, we’re sitting down for 5 minutes with our office manager, Michelle Bloice.

Tell us a bit about your role

As well as running a tight office ship, I oversee the admin requirements of our projects. Anything from the day to day running of the projects to CADs and stationery, I support the team by managing and organising the admin needs of the company.

While my title is ‘Office Manager’, I’m often out on-site visits ensuring everything is in order from an admin perspective.

What’s been your journey with Truman?

I’ve been with Truman for a year now. My role at the company is where I’ve wanted to be for a long time job-wise so I couldn’t be happier. It’s a culmination of everything I’ve worked towards in construction after 8 years of experience in the industry.

Previously, I’ve worked in roles that were primarily site-based or office-based. With Truman, I get the best of both worlds, as well as the opportunity to take on new challenges.

I didn’t go out of my way to enter the construction industry, but I developed a passion for it once I got here. When a role became available at Truman, it was too great an opportunity to pass up.

What’s special about working at Truman?

Truman’s approach as a company is completely different to what I’ve experienced elsewhere. Typically, we don’t submit tenders for projects. Instead, we work with repeat clients and on the back of word of mouth.

This method of being selective about who we work with demonstrates the business’s approach to uncompromising quality. Our work speaks for itself and is the basis on which we get more business. Our clients come to us because they know the work we do is top-of-the-line, not because we make a good pitch.

On top of the company approach, the team dynamics at Truman make it a great place to work. Every day, the enthusiasm of the team is palpable. We have a good time but don’t compromise on the quality of the work we do for our clients.

What does it mean to be a game-changer?

To me, a game-changer is about breaking the mould and being different from the rest of the industry. The philosophy of how we do business sets us apart from the crowd. We are known for great design and build projects, warm and solution-focused customer support, and a collaborative attitude to working with others.

In an industry known for blowing its own trumpet. We travel under the radar, letting our clients shine and delivering their projects exactly as they require.

What keeps you busy outside of work?

I do everything with my two girls. Covid has made things a bit tricky when it comes to days out, but over the last year or so we’ve made good use of local parks, going on plenty of walks and bike rides. Besides that, I like to keep fit and enjoy the occasional trip out on the town with friends and family.

That’s our five minutes with Michelle up. Be sure to check back next month for another instalment.
